Many elderly people prefer to carry on with their familiar daily lives in their natural surroundings. The Supportive Community service has been developed especially for them.<\/p>\n

Supportive Community provides its members with a range of services to help preserve their quality of life, independence and privacy. The program offers its participants personal safety, access to medical services, 24\/7 communication and social and cultural activities. Services help members cope with loneliness, housekeeping and daily errands, and provide counseling and information services.<\/span><\/p>\n

The range of services provided by Supportive Community<\/a><\/h2>\n

– Round the clock supervision via an emergency panic button.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0 Social and cultural activities in a community clubhouse.<\/p>\n

– Home repairs by the Community Caretaker.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0 \u00a0Information services provided by the local social services.<\/p>\n

Emergency watch<\/a><\/h2>\n

To ensure their personal security, members of the Supportive Community are given an emergency panic button, worn on the wrist like a watch, which connects them with the following services:<\/p>\n

– An alarm in case of emergency.<\/p>\n

– Immediate connection to a medical call center.<\/p>\n

– Ambulance service.<\/p>\n

– A Community Caretaker who keeps in touch with members regularly.<\/p>\n

– Police.<\/p>\n

– Fire department.<\/p>\n

The Community Caretaker<\/a><\/h2>\n

The Community Caretaker knows all members of the community and keeps in touch with them regularly. His task is to meet all their daily needs, quickly and reliably. He takes care of problems in the home, fixes what he can and calls plumbers, electricians and other professional repair persons when necessary. Whenever a maintenance problem arises, he\u2019s the one to call.<\/p>\n

Calling for a doctor<\/a><\/h2>\n

Members can request a doctor\u2019s home visit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for a nominal fee. An ambulance can also be summoned for a nominal fee, even without a doctor\u2019s authorization.<\/p>\n

Social activities<\/a><\/h2>\n

The activities are adapted to the interests of members of the various communities. They are designed to fill their lives with something meaningful and encourage the lonely to come out and take part in activities and social interaction.<\/p>\n

Information and welfare services<\/a><\/h2>\n

Every Supportive Community has its own social worker who advises \u00a0members on topics such as legal rights and eligibility for various benefits.<\/p>\n

How Can I join?<\/a><\/h2>\n

To join a Supportive Community, apply to the local welfare service. Membership involves a monthly fee. Those eligible for the long-term care benefit (Long-term Care Insurance Law) of Bituach Leumi can get the emergency panic button through this benefit. A discount on fees \u00a0may be granted, based on criteria of the Ministry of Welfare.<\/p>\n
