Corona Restrictions on Weekly Rest Days

Following the Ministry of Health’s easing of the Corona routine (8.5.200) hereinafter are clarifications concerning sleeping arrangements for Foreign Caregivers who provide live-in care for elderly and handicapped employers, concerning living and sleeping arrangements on their weekly days of rest: If the Foreign Caregiver wishes to sleep outside of his elderly or handicapped employer’s home (which is considered the caregiver’s regular home for this purpose) the Caregiver may not sleep in a communal apartment used by a group of other persons.

The options for living and sleeping quarters for the Caregiver’s rest days are as follows:

1. The Caregiver may stay and sleep in the Caregiver’s regular living quarters in the home of the employer during the rest day.
2. The Caregiver may lodge and spend the night alone in another place which is open as per Ministry of Health rules, such as a separate ground level private guest house.
3. The Caregiver may lodge and stay overnight with one person/one group of people who regularly live together, as set out in the above regulations (for example – with one other family group or with one friend who usually lives alone).
